In September 2009 the Ministry of Culture prepared a Draft Edition of the Law on Provision of Information to the Public (Draft). Its main aim is the implementation of the AVMSD into national law. On 2 June 2009 the Lithuanian Seimas (Parliament) approved the Draft Amendment Law on the Protection of Minors against the Detrimental Effect of Public Information in the first reading. The Draft Law seeks to enhance the protection of minors against the negative effect of public information by expanding the list of criteria on the restricted published information as well as by establishing a system of visual means (indexes) used for categorising TV programmes. On 10 June 2008 the LR Seimas (Parliament) adopted amendments to the Law on Financing and Control of Financing of Political Parties and Political Campaigns. The amendments came into force on 21 June 2008. The amendments are mainly concerned with the regulation of the publishing of political advertising in radio and television programmes.
