On 1 June 2010, the European Union Audiovisual Media Services (AVMS) Directive was transposed in its entirety into Maltese law. This was done through eight different pieces of legislation. The Broadcasting (Amendment) Act, 2010 - Act No. IV of 2010 - was enacted by Parliament and published in the Malta Government Gazette of 4 June 2010. The Radio and Television Decree (Ordonnance sur la Radio et la Télévision - ORTV) has been amended, as of 1 April 2010, in order to bring its provisions into line with European rules. In a report submitted to the Prime Minister at the end of January and published on 15 February 2010, the Conseil Supérieur de l'Audiovisuel (audiovisual regulatory body - CSA) has drawn up an assessment of its actions in addressing racism and anti-Semitism in the audiovisual media.
