The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) has begun to investigate interference to Croatian radio and television signals which has its origins in Italy. The authority had announced that it would be measuring interference in the VHF and UHF frequency bands between July and September 2018 in order to examine the effect on FM, DAB-T and DVB-T services. On 20 June 2018, new amendments to the Latvian Electronic Mass Media Law (EMML) which provide inter alia that public service broadcasters leave the advertising market, as well as other important amendments, were decided. On 13 June 2018, following inter-institutional negotiations, the European Parliament, European Council, and European Commission published a Provisional Agreement on a proposal amending the Audiovisual Media Services Directive (2010/13/EU) (AVMSD), which was first put forward by the Commission in May 2016 (see IRIS 2016-6/3). The proposed version of the new Directive, running to 38 pages, makes substantial amendments to over 17 of the articles of the AVMSD and includes some new articles.
