IRIS 2017-1:1/7 [CZ] Digital Audio Broadcasting

On 24 August 2016, the Government of the Czech Republic approved Decision no. 730 on the Terrestrial Digital Broadcasting of the public service broadcaster Czech Radio. The Decision allocates frequencies to Czech Radio for the period 2016-2021 in accordance with the rules of procedure under the Electronic Communications Act (Act no. 127/2005 Coll.). IRIS 2016-8:1/9 [CZ] Government has approved transition to the DVB-T2 standard

On 20 July 2016, the Czech government approved the strategy for the full transition of the digital terrestrial television to the DVB-T2 new broadcast standard. The strategy envisages that the process of transition to DVB-T2 will be launched in autumn 2016, accompanied by an information campaign. On 1 February 2021, all existing DVB-T networks will be switched off synchronously. On 5 May 2016, the Parliament of the Czech Republic adopted Act no. 139/2016 Coll., amending Act no. 496/2012 Coll., On audiovisual works and promotion of cinematography, and amending some other laws (the Audiovisual Act). IRIS 2016-5:1/6 [CZ] Decision of the Supreme Court on copyright in spa facilities

On 14 October 2015, the Grand Chamber of the Civil and Commercial Division of the Supreme Court concluded that the copyright exception for health facilities, according to § 23 of the Copyright Act, does not apply to patients staying in spa facilities. According to the exception, no remuneration has to be paid for the broadcast of works protected by copyright in healthcare facilities.
