The Turkish Law No. 5846 on intellectual and artistic works of 5 December 1951 was last amended on 7 June 1995 by Law No. 4110. The Law defines "works" as all intellectual and artistic productions which carry their authors' personal characteristics. At their conference at the beginning of May 1995 the directors of the regional media bodies were called upon to make an inspection of the programmes broadcast by the Turkish state television channel TRT-International (TRT-INT). This Turkish station can be seen by cable or satellite in most of the Federal states. The new Turkish Law on broadcasting of 20 April 1994 is now also available in English.
