On 1 January 2013 the Amendment of Article 47 of the Act on Provision of Information to the Public came into force. It was adopted by the Seimas (Parliament) on 14 June 2012 and provides for the reformation of the Lietuvos radijo ir televizijos komisija (Radio and Television Commission of Lithuania - LRTK). On 18 April 2012 the Government of the Republic of Lithuania adopted a Resolution by which it approved the formation of the Lithuanian Film Centre under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture. The Lithuanian Film Centre will be established following the revised Law on Cinema of 22 December 2011, which will come into force on 1 May 2012 (see IRIS 2012-2/29). On 21 December 2011 the Seimas (Lithuanian Parliament) adopted some amendments to the Law on Copyright and Related Rights. The main part of these amendments relates to the regulation of the determination, pay out and distribution of the remuneration to copyright and related rightsholders for the reproduction of audiovisual works or phonograms for private use. On 22 December 2011 the Seimas (Lithuanian Parliament) adopted a new Act on Cinema. The draft law was prepared by the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the Union of Lithuanian Cinematographers and the Association of Independent Producers. The new Law determines the basis for State regulation and financing of Lithuanian cinema, the protection of its heritage and the rules for film distribution and presentation in cinemas.
