In the run-up to the German parliamentary elections in October 2005 several rulings were issued in the German courts on the requirement for television broadcasters to transmit party political broadcasts. The subject was the party political broadcast of a small party that had anarchy as part of its political programme. IRIS 2005-10:1/13 [CZ] Financial Penalties for Broadcasting a TV Reality Show

The Broadcasting Council of the Czech Republic has fined the management of the channels NOVA and PRIMA around CZK 4 million and CZK 5 million respectively (approximately EUR 130,000 and EUR 160,000) for broadcasting the TV Reality Show Big Brother . IRIS 2005-9:1/38 [FI] Recommendations on Food Advertising

The Finnish Consumer Agency, the Consumer Ombudsman and the National Public Health Institute have drafted recommendations as a guide for advertisers when marketing foodstuffs to children. Such recommendations are deemed necessary to counter the spread of obesity in children and are based on several reviews which found that the contents and volume of advertising contribute to influencing consumption habits especially where children and adolescents are concerned. IRIS 2005-9:1/33 [RO] New Decisions by Audiovisual Regulator

Decision no. 405 of 30 June 2005 of the Co nsiliul Naţional al Audiovizualului (the Romanian regulatory authority for electronic media - CNA) amended CNA Decision no. 248 of 1 July 2004 on personality rights (see IRIS 2004-10:15). Article 11 of Decision no. 248 now states that, for the benefit of TV viewers, footage filmed using a hidden camera must always be denoted by a graphic symbol depicting a camera. IRIS 2005-9:1/26 [IT] 40% of DTT Capacity on the Multiplexes of RAI and RTI for Independent Content Providers

On 6 July 2005, the Autorità per le garanzie nelle comunicazioni (Communications Authority - AGCOM) decided the terms according to which RAI and RTI will have to choose the independent content providers that will benefit from the 40% quota of their DTT capacity until the complete implementation of the national digital frequency plan (see IRIS 2003-4: 9).
