On 12 December 2016, Government Emergency Decree no. 91/2016 on the modification and completion of Government Decree no. 39/2005 on cinematography and on establishing some measures in the cinematography area (‘the Act’) came into force. On 19 October 2016, the Romanian President promulgated Law no. 187/2016, a modification of the Audiovisual Law no. 504/2002 with further modifications and completions (Legea Audiovizualului nr. 504/2002 cu modificările și completările ulterioare). The Chamber of Deputies (the lower Chamber of the Romanian Parliament) tacitly approved two draft laws intended to modify the Audiovisual Law no. 504/2002 with further modifications and completions.
