On 7 September 2005 the National Broadcasting Council (NBC) adopted a regulation on the procedure for announcing the competition on frequency reservation with a view to digital terrestrial broadcasting or retransmission of radio or television programme services. The newly adopted Act on cinematography of 30 June 2005 came into force on 19 August 2005. However, provisions on deductions, being an important part of cinematographic production support system, came into force on 1 January 2006 (Article 19 of the Act). IRIS 2005-7:1/27 [PL] Strategy for Switch-over Adopted

On 4 May 2005 the Council of Ministers adopted a Strategy for the switch-over from analogue to digital technology on terrestrial television. The introduction of digital terrestrial television (DVB-T) will be based on the standard EN 300 744 elaborated by ETSI. The European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) recently made public five new reports as part of the third cycle of its monitoring process of the laws, policies and practices to combat racism in the Member States of the Council of Europe. Four of the country reports (Albania, Croatia, Poland and the United Kingdom) contain specific recommendations concerning the media.
