On 24 October 2002, the Hungarian National Public Service Television (M1) announced a public tender aiming to outsource the sales of its entire available commercial airtime, including sponsorship possibilities, to a company on an exclusive basis (see No. 43 / 2002 of the Public Procurement Newsletter). On 2 December 2002 the president of the Országos Rádió és Televízió Testület (National Radio and Television Commission - ORTT, the independent regulatory authority for the media) announced her resignation. On 18 October 2002 the Országos Rádió és Televízió Testület (Hungarian National Radio and Television Commission- ORTT) published a communication to the broadcasters on guidelines concerning protection of minors. The publication of the communication was a consequence of the adoption of Act No. XX of 2002 amending Act No I of 1996 on Radio and Television Services (Broadcasting Act, see IRIS 2002-8: 8).
