In IRIS 1995-5 : 12 we wrote that the Minister of the Interior and Regional Planning had banned Egyptian theologist Youssef Qaradhawi's book"What's lawful and unlawful in Islam", published by éditions Al Qalam in Paris. The book was considered as a foreign written work of a nature likely to provoke public disorder. The recommendation refers to coverage of news both relating to and not relating to the forthcoming local elections. The aim of the Convention is to facilitate transfrontier transmission and retransmission of television programme services. On 24 April 1995, following a Decision of the Minister of the Interior and Regional Planning, the work by Youssef Quaradhawi, entitled "What's lawful and unlawful in Islam", published in French and Arabic, is considered as a foreign written work of a nature likely to provoke public disorder. The sale, distribution and circulation of the work have been banned for the whole of the country.
