---|---|
A study paper has just been published by the states of Bavaria and Saxony which reflects on structural reform in public service broadcasting. The paper's main demand is the strengthening of the speccial interest programmes of the regional broadcasters to the detriment of the national ARD-programme for the general public. According to the paper a reform of this type is needed for two reasons: Firstly, the very necessary wide range of programs and interests, seen as an integral part of the ARD, has to be re-established and, secondly, costs must be reduced and yet be able to cover the needs of a... |

IRIS 1995-1:1/50 [DE-BA] Agreement on Co-operation in the Film Industry | |
The Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina agreed in an exchange of notes on 16 November 1992 that treaties concluded between Germany and the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia were to continue apply unless an agreement with deviating provisions was reached. This means that an agreement on co-operation in the film industry concluded on 23 February 1972 is still in force. IRIS 1995-1:1/24 [DE] Amendments Made to Press Legislation in Saarland Now the Object of Two Constitutional Appeals. | |
On 11 May 1994 the local government of Saarland passed an Act to amend press legislation and broadcasting laws in their region. The Act was, however, a greatly toned down version of the original Bill. The aim of the amendment was to create a greater balance between the media and those concerned by giving them the right to reply as a means of protecting their private life, as defined under constitutional law, against media attacks. Under press legislation, such reply statements should be printed in an equivalent place on the same page as the first publication, using the same font and layout and... |
