On 19 May 2005 the Parliament of the Republic of Albania rejected a bill on digital terrestrial and satellite broadcasting in Albania, presented by a group of Members of Parliament. Experts from the OSCE and the Council of Europe had offered their expertise to prepare and approve a temporary law on digital broadcasting. This expertise has not been taken into consideration by the authors of the bill. In July 2004, the private Albanian broadcasting company, ”Digit-alb”, started broadcasting digitally, using four frequencies without the authorization of the Keshilli Kombetar i Radios dhe Televizioneve...

During 2004, the Albanian market of the electronic media was seriously shocked by the unlicensed presence of a new operator for the terrestrial and digital satellite broadcasting to which the NCRT objected. On 17 February 2005, the Parliament of the Republic of Albania approved the Annual Report 2004 of the NCRT. According to the Law “On public and private...

On 23 December 2004 the Keshilli Kombetar i Radioteleviziove (National Council of Radio and Television, NCRT), the highest regulatory authority for private radio and TV stations, decided to withdraw the broadcasting license of the private TV station Shijak TV.
