In mid-July 2005, the Slovenian Parliament adopted the Act on Radiotelevision Slovenia (RTV Act). The voting led to a second approval of the Act which became necessary after the upper house, the National Council, vetoed the previous decision of the assembly. On 1 April 2005, the Slovenian Ministry for Culture published a Bill on Slovenian public service broadcasting (RTV Slovenija). The original intention was to table the Bill before Parliament as part of an accelerated legislative procedure. The Slovenian Parliament adopted the Act on Public Usage of the Slovenian Language on 15 July 2004. The Act stipulates, inter alia, that all legal entities under civil law and all natural persons should use Slovenian in their business relations with customers. If foreign customers are involved in a business activity, their language may also be used in addition to Slovenian.
