According to a joint press release, the media companies Ringier and Dogan intend to join forces in Romania and invest jointly in the television broadcaster Kanal D Romania, whose main shareholder is Dogan Media International SA. According to statistics (Situaţie statistică - 01.08.2006) published on 1 August 2006 by the Consiliul Naţional al Audiovizualului (National Audiovisual Council - CNA)) there currently exist in Romania 263 valid licences for terrestrial television, 286 licences for cable television and 92 licences for satellite television.
