The Consiliul Naţional al Audiovizualului (National Council for Electronic Media - CNA) on 16 and 21 September 2010 fined two commercial Romanian TV stations and issued a public warning to a third one due to breaches of the audiovisual law when covering the preventive arrest of the Romanian tycoon Sorin Ovidiu Vîntu, who was accused of several illegal financial operations and who was arrested in September 2010. Due to the economic crisis and its effects on the Romanian markets, the Autoritatea Naţională pentru Administrare şi Reglementare în Comunicaţii (National Authority for Administration and Regulation in Communications - ANCOM) decided not to charge the monitoring tariff owed by the operators of electronic communications and postal services for 2010. IRIS 2010-9:1/35 [RO] Digital Switchover Postponed | |
The Romanian Government decided on 11 August 2010 to postpone the switchover from analogue to digital television until 1 January 2015. The previous deadline foreseen for the switchover was 1 January 2012. The new Decree repealed Government Decree no. 464/2010 on the granting of licenses to use radio frequencies in the digital television system and the modified Strategy of transition from analogue terrestrial to digital television and the introduction of digital multimedia services at national level, approved by Government Decree no. 1213/2009 (Official Journal of Romania no. 357 of 31 May 2010).... |

The Consiliul Naţional al Audiovizualului (National Council for Electronic Media - CNA) launched on 17 August 2010 a public consultation regarding the proposed changes of Decizia nr. 187/2006 privind Codul de reglementare a conţinutului audiovizual (Decision no. 187/2006 concerning the Regulatory Code for Audiovisual Content, Audiovisual Code). The project was placed for one month on the Council’s website (see IRIS 2006-4: 19/33, IRIS 2007-1:16/29, IRIS 2007-4: 19/30, IRIS 2008-1: 17/25 and IRIS 2008-2: 17/26).
