On 6 and 8 November 2012, the Consiliul Naţional al Audiovizualului (National Council for Electronic Media - CNA) imposed severe sanctions on four commercial Romanian television stations (PRO TV, Acasă TV, Kanal D and Antena 1) for violating the law on audiovisual services. The new Legea Nr. 140 pentru aprobarea Ordonanţei de urgenţă a Guvernului nr. 111/2011 privind comunicaţiile electronice (Act no. 140/2012 on electronic communications) recently entered into force in Romania. On 19 June 2012, the Romanian Chamber of Deputies (lower Chamber of the Parliament) rejected by a large majority a Bill on the revision and modification of Law no. 196/2003 on preventing and fighting pornography. The Bill was rejected by 184 votes to 6, with two abstentions.
